Probably the best helmet in the world. It doesn’t hurt to see where you are going. Despite the mystique, Arai visors are a doddle to remove and fit. Easy way is to stand behind the helmet, lift up the visor, lift up the black tab levers, then the visor will move up and back and release. Dont forget the silicon lube thats supplied with each genuine arai visor. This one happens to be a new L type Arai visor with pinlock, fitting it onto an Arai SV helmet. Removing your visor also allows you to properly get at all the area around the opening for cleaning. Its not a bad idea to keep the lube and use a drop or two each time you remove/replace the visor. Its fecking amazing how much the clarity of a visor degrades over the winter with all the muck, and wiping with gloves. At night you’ll really notice this. You can also polish out light marks very well with a product called Greygate plastic polish, which the air force and navy use for polishing aeroplane and helicopter canopies and screens. You rarely see it in shops, but there are a couple of good suppliers on Ebay. Arai genuine visors from your local bike shop. In the UK from Phoenix Distribution ltd.

I have a 69 suzuki t125.

For the record, this is a 2 cylinder 125cc 2 stroke motor. (you don’t have to pre-mix the oil. it does it for you.

it’s rated at about 15hp, and tops out between 70-80 depending on wind direction and if i’m crouched over the gas tank, etc…. in a tail wind wearing tighter clothing and a full faced helmet, i actually got 85 one time on the freeway…

I’ll preface my question with this……

If i wanted to go 220 mph down the freeway, obviously i’d buy a hayabusa.

That’s not what i’m looking for. I would however like to add an extra 3- 5 horsepower if possible to potentially help me keep speed when climbing a hill with my girlfriend on the back.

I will say this. I have ridden a LOT of bikes, and this bike handles better than any bike i have ever ridden to date. This includes Ninjas, CBR’s, etc. it may not have a high top speed, but i can take a hair pin with no problems…

sorry.. back on topic..

Parts are NOT easy to find for this bike. they stopped producing parts for it 20+ years ago. back in the day, they had lots of performance parts for them, but finding one that specifically fits this bike is going to be nearly impossible… anything i do like exhaust or intake will have to be fabricated and made to fit by hand (which i can do to some extent).

SO… given that, what can i do to make it a little more powerful?

For the record also, it’s a 6v system…

hmm.. thanks…. yeah i wasn’t sure if the 185 had the same style motor. i think the 250′s are different. i’ll have to check into that. i would be ok with upgrading it to a 185 if it mounts the same way.
– the t185 has a different style motor that requires it to have a frame under the motor, but like you said, i may be able to make the barrels fit… i’ll look into that.

first.. take of the pipes & clean them inside .. the cleaner the better.

do the same to the air filter.. Air in ..air out.. makes a difference.

you can remove the barrels & polish & match the intakes & exhaust.

have a look & see if you can find some expansion chambers for the bike ..

not sure how far you want to modify it??

you could also look at over boring the cylinders too..

(from memory I think Suzuki had a 185 twin 2 stroke as well.. so you may be able to find a motor or barrels from one of those & make them fit??)

I like to weld, ran a lathe, design and build things,run auto cad on the computer, and fly real and model air planes. I would like to get a job as a commercial pilot or start a business building either custom motorcycles or dune buggies. I would like to get a degree in something other than aviation like welding or machining. Is there such a thing as a 4 year welding or machining degree? 1994 Ninja 500 with brand new $200 helmet (which I’d probably try to sell)

The good: approx 6,300 miles, very clean and apparently well maintained (don’t know right now what might be available as far as service records & much of it was done by the first two owners themselves), no general rust other than minimal surface rust at exhaust attachment points & none inside original tank, brand new rear tire, 50% tread on front, brakes in good shape, no apparent leaks including fork seals, paint is glossy and seat cover is subtle, the sprockets and chain supposedly are nearly brand new (haven’t done any verification). I test drove it and it revs and shifts fine but idles a bit low/rough (it’s currently located at an elevation above where it was supposedly tuned up so the air pressure/thickness I imagine does affect it. It’s enough of a difference to make your ears pop a bit)

The bad:

It went down once. The right front turn signal broke out of the fairing & had to be epoxied back into place. The turn signal is quite scraped up. The corner of the upper fairing right by the turn signal got ground down pretty good and is now flat rather than pointy. The right muffler also got scraped up really good. The left muffler is covered with some molten boot sole (I’ve previously been able to polish that kinda stuff off of chrome exhaust piping so perhaps it’ll work on this, too)

The Blue Book value is $1425 in excellent shape with significantly more miles. At such an already low value, how much do the low miles add and how much does the cosmetic condition take away from that price? I offered $1000 and was told $1200 is the max they’d take because supposedly that’s what they bought it for just a couple of months ago (changed mind on motorcycle riding). The bike’s been listed for about 2 weeks and the only other option they currently have is a guy who wants to pay $500 down and then make payments (they would only go for a $900 down payment from the guy).
I meant "$1200 is the least they’d take" of course.
No, the husband doesn’t want his wife to ride it after all because he nearly got into an accident while riding it.
