Solvol is for non mirror finishes, Mothers is better for keeping a mirror finish.

It depends on your climate. I live out in the country and I rarely need to do any maintenance on my polished aluminium parts, maybe polish it with Mothers once a year. But a friend who lives on the coast near sea air has to polish his almost weekly or so.

thats not mirror …
thats not mirror polished.you can still see the lines from the mop/scratches and pit holes. if your guna advertise polishing then get a proper motor and mop and do it the proper way.
with a motor you dont need to go down to a very fine grade of sand paper.its much quicker.your also taking the edge off the alloy every time you slip.drill to polish…….um no.

I used Mother’s Metal Polish and I’m amazed how awesome it made my engine parts. Just like a mirror and easier than this!.

i take it all the way to 2000(real freakin shiny by now), then it hits the wheel, then mothers, then “trucker polish” then a good rubbing with a cotton cloth, then wax to seal it (mirror lasts for a LONG time) then a good rubbing with cotton again

We have a product …
We have a product called chrome polish or simichrome that does the same thing.
We also offer spray cans like the Antox 800S for stainless steel which gives far better corrosion protection.

the mirror finish will fade with time like any other metal it will oxidize eventually, re-polish it periodicaly with a rag and Solvol-AutoSol paste (in a tube) from Germany

You normally need to go down to 400 grit before polishing. Some people prefer to take it down to 800 grit so that there is no possibility of lines showing.

Is it safe to polish gas reservoir of a rear shock? Mine has aluminium oxide and is dull.
