best way to polish aluminum diamond plate?

The project is an old fire truck, covered in aluminum diamond plate. There’s some light white-like tanishing going on, but the diamonds are smoothed out from 30+ years of firefighters polishing it regularly — but the rig has been outside for the past 18 months before coming to me. I’m open to whatever works, leaning toward not going 100% by hand (it’s a large truck), but if it works, I’ll try it. Thanks!
