Can I use a silver/aluminum polish on the back of scratched iPod touch without any negative side effects?

I bought it used. I understand that I cannot fix the scratches on the screen. However, can I improve the back to some degree without any negative side effects? I have a can of silver/aluminum polish….

It won’t hurt anything but it probably won’t help much either. Just use the polish sparingly. Don’t dump a glob of it on there…
