That can be buffed to a chrome like finish.

If there is any oxidation or raised areas, sand down the imperfections with 600 wet/dry sand paper before buffing.

Go to either BUSTERS M&P or Hein Gericke.
Get a polishing mop and french wax polish. get yourself a modellers drill ( dremell) or a flexshaft for the electric drill. persuade some one to bring you a succesion of cups of hot drinks and sit cross legged for hours on end watching the shine come back..

skotchbrite. ( Green pad usually used for dishes.) It'll polish up the aluminum to it's former state without ruining it.
Not good for chrome though.
