Is it possible to do this by hand? I don’t have any power tools. What is the best compound to use for polishing aluminum?
I don’t know what you are trying to polish, but I assume it’s some type of fixture. You can do it by hand, but be prepared to spend some time on it if the scratches are bad. You can use some polishing compound for vehicles intially to get the grime and scratches out. Put it on a damp rag and work in a circular motion. Your rag will get black from the aluminum, so you will have to keep washing it out. If you wish to protect it from water or other outside elements, you can put a little car wax on it and polish to a shine.
