in march or so, i painted my motorcycle gas tank with dupli color enamel paint for cars. i clear coated it with the same brand. it sat for a few months without getting anything on it (occasionally washing it). but the most recent trip to the gas station resulted in gas pouring over the top of the tank (long story). I got as much of it off as i could, and then broke many speed limits rushing home to wash the tank. i fear i may have to sand it all down again and throw a clear coat on it again. the paint does not feel rough in the gas infected areas though…..
what should i do? polish? wax? nothing?
there was a little bit of discoloring. the spot that got gas on it now looks like it has a matte or flat finish to it.
I wouldnt worry about it if theres no damage…..besides, it just spoof can paint. The absolute worst thing that could happen is you’d have to spend 10 bucks for new paint and do it again.

Minor amounts of gas on an irregular basis is not something to worry about. Wipe it up with the towels at the pump. When you get home after your ride go ahead and use water and some soap.
The big issue is if you let the gas sit on there for days or weeks. That is what will eat through the wax, and then find tiny gaps to get under the paint and bubble it up.

repaint it with 10 coats of clear, no worries if you get gas on it again
