I went to college and got a degree in American Studies, because everyone said do what you like, and after looking over 50 majors and narrowing them down, I chose that.

So I did real well in school, at an academically rigorous school at that.

But after graduation I found that I had an enormous debt. I never thought about it because I was also so focused about getting good grades. However, I learned multiple trades while in school, to start saving for that "smack in the face."

So after graduation, I move back home, hyped to get a good government job or something, crack open the newspapers, and polished my resume, visited all the career centers, and with no luck.

So I end up not really having a place to live either, as all my friends moved away, or on, or somewhere else.

Luckily, my parents have this sort of "guest space/room" that wasn’t being used, so they let me rent it from them. Also, I maintain their property as part of my job, as they have a big property, and it’s almost a full time job just maintaining it.

And, I continue to do the same for other people’s properties, doing home improvement projects and such, and using all those trades I learned, and putting them to use. I do it all, from pressure washing, to building decks and roofs, to drywall, painting, custom furniture, buy/sell on ebay, trade on amazon, do custom gardens, custom landscapes/lawns, I mean you name it.

So that helps.

The thing is, it’s just enough to get by and pay the bills, and all my own expenses.

I could probably rent somewhere, but it wouldn’t be wise really, because it’ cost me more money, (parent discount where i’m at now), plus, I’d only really want to buy if i were to go that route, unless I landed a job that required me to relocate, then I would rent somewhere else.

But I’m at a point in my life now where I don’t know what direction I’m heading in. I’m not complaining about now, and am grateful for everything, I just get confused, and worried about the future.

Like, will I ever be able to save up enough for my own house one day?

Or will I ever land a solid job or start a solid business one day?

A lot of times, days can be so hectic, I just have to take it day by day. Then other times, I wonder about the future.
