I use a spot of toothpaste, and rub it with my thumb.

toothpaste and rub it with your fingers. Toothpaste is quite abrasive.

Mothers billet and aluminum polish is what i use on tail lights.

Belive it or not. Original colgate toothepaste very small amount rubbed in with a soft cloth.

Use a paste of Bi Carbonate Soda. That is the ingredient in toothpaste that does the polishing work.
