The Tripoli compound and spiral wheel levels the surface very nicely. Buffing can be done with motors turning as slow as 1800rpm, in fact they reduce the frictional heat conduction into the part. I assume you were referring to the cast iron water neck when you stated &quot;need to sand before&quot; and that is true but I wanted to show what a little effort will produce. Our instruction book describes the leveling or &quot;sanding&quot; steps</description>
